Upgrading the Games

Our vision to upgrade the Mediterranean Games through the 2013 events remains a commitment towards the Mediterranean Family and all stakeholders involved. To that end we are planning the following actions:  All travel expenses for all athletes and officials taking part in the Games will be covered by the Organising Committee, in order for the 2013 events to attract all Mediterranean high level athletes. The competition programme of the 2013 Games will include a 10-day sporting experience, while new sports such as equestrian and golf will be included in the Games. All Mediterranean medalists will be declared Honorary Citizens of Volos and Larissa. Main streets in the host cities of Volos and Larissa will be named after Mediterranean gold medalists. 10% of the sponsorship revenues will be returned to the ICMG and another 5% will be returned to the Hellenic Olympic Committee, as our vision is to encourage the local NOC and the ICMG to work together for the consolidation of a Mediterranean Sports Spirit in the host region after the end of the 2013 Games.
